Quilting in Kona Retreat

February is going to be a busy month for quilters on the Big Islanad

First there is the every-other-year Hawaiian Quilt Show held in Waimea as part of the Cherry Blossom Festival the first Saturday in February.

Then Quilt Passions' Quilting on the Beach 2013 retreat is scheduled for February 2-9 and includes a trip to the Cherry Blossom Festival as well as a shop hop and classes at Courtyards's King Kamemeha Kona Beach Hotel. Along with teachers from the islands, there will be several teachers from the mainland. And it's not all classes. They have a luau and other activities as well. All the details are here.

Right after that, there is Pat Yamin's Quilting in Kona Retreat from Feb 8-17.  This retreat has local teachers as well as teachers from the Mainland and as far away as New Zealand. The classes are being held at a private estate on Alii Drive and participants receive a home-made lunch and beverages each day. This house has a pool and there are "pool projects" and other activities in addition to classes to take advantage of the location. Click here for all the details on this retreat..

Sounds like February is going to be a good time for quilters to visit the Big Island.
