Throughout the fall I've been concentrating my dyeing efforts on devore scarves.
These have a silk background with a rayon design on the top. Originally these were just one layer of silk and one of rayon. Some of the rayon is then eaten away by an acid process and you are left with a rayon design and a silk background. In the case of this sample picture, above, from the Dharma website, the yellow/gold dots are the rayon and the blue/green is the background. They are beautiful and when you add the dye they really pop!
To add the color I've been using the Alter Ego Dyes that you can now get from Dharma Trading Company .
With these you can dye the silk one color and the rayon a completely different color in one simple step. You can choose any of the standard colors for the silk and for the rayon but I like to mix my own colors from the standard ones. They don't always turn out the way I planned but they always look great. I'll post some photos tomorrow.
Meanwhile I'm also dyeing cotton fabric again Right now I'm just doing a couple of yards a day. Here are two of the ones I dyed yesterday:
Stay tuned for more!

Aloha Kathy!
good to read with you again! your newsletter was missed by more than me!
Happy Healthy new year 2010 to you and your fur clan.
Sonja
I'd wondered about your silence. Sorry to lose you as a PFD source, but wish you success in your new direction.
Sorry to hear you closed your store and I'm sorry for the loss of your mom. I also closed my store but continue to sell my pfd and other fabric by word of mouth or at quilt shows. There is always etsy to sell at. Take care and it's great to see you here in blogland.
