It's Official - Quilt Hawaii Returns

Yes! Quilt Hawaii will be back on the Big Island this summer! June 30 - July 3rd to be exact. It's at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott this year, practically in my back yard! Well, not quite that close but much closer than the Sheraton Keauhou where it was the last time. Can you tell I'm excited that it's close to home this time? Yes, I know I can come down to this same beach anytime I want all year long, but there's something extra special about it when I can combine it with a quilt show!

Even more fun is the fact that my friend
Sonja Hagemann who lives on the North Shore of Oahu will be teaching her painting on fabric class at Quilt Hawaii again this year.
All the pictures you see here are samples from her classes. I think this year she'll be doing a heliconia.

She does such wonderful whimsical work and has such a following that it's no wonder her classes are always so popular. Her work is full of her cats and chickens and flowers and all sorts of tropical stuff that you just can't help but love. And the best thing about her class is that you don't need to know how to draw or paint or mix colors or do anything but be willing to have some fun. It's a laid back fun class where you learn in spite of yourself
.

Now I need to start dyeing fabric and scarves and build up my inventory for my booth. My friend Nan from Victoria, BC, Canada always comes to help me at the show. She taught me how to dye and how to do a great display and I am so looking forward to seeing her again.
