Embellishing Scarves

I decided some of my shibori scarves needs a bit of embellishment so I decided to add some shapes to the design in black ink. This is my first attempt.

I traced the bird shapes on the silk and filled them in with a black Identipen. Then twisted  the scarf, wrapped it around a pole, scrunched it and put it in dye on the stove for 30 minutes. I was happy to see that after washing and drying the birds looks just like they did before I did the dyeing.

The shibori pattern is not exactly what I had in mind but I forgot that this scarf is chiffon and it takes up a lot more dye than some of the other silks.

Now I have to decide if the birds need to be bigger. What do you think?  Can you even see them?
