Folding and Wrapping

I've been experimenting with some basic shibori techniques in anticipation of a class I'm taking later this month. I used some white crepe and charmeuse fabrics I had already cut into scarf length. These aren't saleable, but I'm happy with my first efforts.

The striped scarves are dyed one color and then sewn into a tube along the long side. The tube is slipped over a long pole and scrunched down to make a resist. Then the pole was inserted into the dye pot on the stove. The scrunching makes some areas inaccessible to the next round of dyeing and the result is a two color organic stripe.
