SOLD OUT!

I'm happy to report that the Made in Hawaii Festival was well organized, lots of fun and best of all, filled with shoppers ready to buy.  It was like a feeding frenzy at our booth and by noon on Saturday we were down to four scarves. By 2pm, we had none!  600 scarves gone in a flash.

I apologize to all the customers who came by on Saturday and Sunday and left empty-handed. We promise to do better next year. We thought for sure that 600 scarves were more than enough for all three days.

I'm sorry I didn't have my camera and of course I forgot that my phone has a camera so I have no pictures to share. But I will tell you that we tried something new this time. Usually we display 10-15 scarves on a table on  bags with coordinating  photo cards. The rest of the stock goes on a couple of drying racks and what doesn't  fit goes under the table and comes out later.  We anticipated being busy this time (at least we got that right!), so in addition to filling the racks, we added a second table and arranged the rest of the stock by color in neat, lengthwise piles across the table.

Five minutes after the show opened, the table looked like a mountain of scarves and our customers were digging through to find just the one they wanted.  Some of them also looked at the scarves on the rack, but the mountain on the table seemed to call almost everyone.

The show started at 8am the first day and closed at 9pm. We barely had a five minute break the whole time.

It was a great experience. I learned a lot and met many really nice vendors and shoppers. I'm ready to go back next August, but with a lot more scarves.

My friend and neighbor, Hanne, was an outstanding salesperson and great at finding just the right scarves for those who needed help. I couldn't have done it without her. I generally manned the cash box and credit card machine and restocked whenever I could.

I used my IPHONE as a credit card terminal for the first time and it was a big success. I ordered the attachment to swipe the cards from Propay.com and it worked like a charm.  It was a novelty for a lot of customers to  find themselves ssigning my cell phone screen with their finger. Technology is wonderful, isn't it?

I came by on Friday and bought two of your beautiful scarves. I only wish I had bought more! I can believe that you sold out only because your scarves are beautiful, one of a kind and affordable. Thank you so much. I do plan to buy more before moving back to the mainland.

Glad to hear your sales were so good. How much do you charge for a scarf? Do you sell them direct to people?
